Flickering HID can be more then just a simple fix because it depends on why it's flickering. What is the cause? There are a few reasons HID Flickers.
2) Poor Quality
3) Poor Installation
Read below to find your solution.
Canbus on vehicle: Vehicle computer will cause flickering when HID with no resistance is installed. Here are a few vehicles known to have canbus:
DSP Canbus ballasts are better solution then just Canbus ballasts because they have a special digital signal processing chip inside. Just a DSP ballast will not solve canbus issues. You will need DSP Canbus ballast or a Digital Canbus Fixer.
PROBLEM: Poor Quality
Poor quality made ballast or bulb can cause numerous issues and problems. One light not working when you turn on your lights. Repeatedly on and off of your headlights will initiate them to sometimes come on. Lights changing color or one stop working in less then a year. Some of these signs are not always poor quality but may be just a bad component inside.
A bad ballast is part of poor quality. Cheap HID kits under $100 usually have this issue. The components inside the ballasts are not made very well or are cheaply made and tend to fail at a quicker rate then other components. When one electronics component fails inside the whole ballast stops working. Also ballasts that are a DC output instead of the standard AC output will fail at a much quicker rate. HID is supposed to last at least 2000 hours. That means if you drive every night for two hours your ballast should last for 2.74 years.
Bulbs are a little more different then ballast components. Since thousands of volts are being arced inside of these small capsules every time you turn them on, much has to be considered. Build quality, quality chemicals inside the capsule that gets ignited, glass quality, UV protection to protect lamps, etc. All must be taken for consideration when making a bulb. The higher grade components inside the bulb, the higher the cost of that bulb. Also since HID bulbs can not be powered without a ballast it is important to choose a good ballast that works stable with the bulb. Some bulbs do not work very long with certain ballasts. Some high quality bulbs will fail quicker because of a poor quality ballast. It is always good to pick a good quality bulb that is stable with a good quality ballast. Warranties are not a sign of quality. Lifetime warranties on items does not always been high quality.
SOLUTION: Purchase Better Quality
Easiest solution is purchasing better quality. It does not have to be a large about of money. Xenonsplus brand we carry uses high quality ballasts and bulbs in their premium line. Starc & Kaixen HID kits are made in Korea and are good quality. Even GP Thunder makes some Korean kits that are good quality. Rule of thumb, if the kit is cheaper then $100 more then likely it is not worth the money.
