So you have a 9004 HID bulb and you want to know if it will fit a 9007 headlamp, or vice-a-verse-a.
With so many different HID systems out there and so many bulb "manufacturers" it is hard to know if your 9004 HID bulb will also work with your 9007 headlamp.
Here we will show you some tips and pictures to show you if your 9004 or 9007 HID bulb will work with more than what it says it will work for.
To find out look at...
To find out first lets look at the picture above. (Click the picture to open up a larger view.) The red arrows point to the notches in the base of the HID bulb that will fit your 9004 or 9007 headlamp. If the notches on your HID bulb resemble the picture above (only 3 notches), then more than likely you can only use that bulb on either 9004 or 9007 headlamps, not both.
Now check out the picture on the right. This bulb has several notches on the bulb and this bulb will be able to fit in both 9004 and 9007 headlamps without any problems. Most of today's aftermarket HID system have made 9004 and 9007 bulbs to be able to fit in both 9004 and 9007 headlamp sockets. It's more cost effective for a manufacturer to have one item that works for two items.
Another type is the bulb in the picture on the left. This is a typical movable Bi-Xenon HID bulb by CNLIGHT. This bulb has one small notch and one wide open notch to be able to fit both 9004 and 9007 lamps. We are not sure why they did not just notch several small notches like in the picture above, but possibly to reduce the amount of needed material while maintaining 9004 and 9007 usability.
Do not let this option be a reason to think that one bulb is better made than the other bulb. The first bulb in the picture that is only able to be used in either 9004 or 9007 is an actual Korean Made HID bulb and is better quality than those made in China.
So now you can check your 9004 and 9007 HID bulbs and see what you can use your bulb in. If you have any questions for us or comments p
